Microwave Extra Creamy Oatmeal is super creamy and sweet with brown sugar made with just 4 unrefrigerated ingredients in 5 minutes.
Oatmeal is good for you. It’s a better breakfast than most sugary cereals, even if it doesn’t have a prize in the box. You can whip it up really quick in the microwave, add whatever you want to it, and sneak a prize into the box, we don’t judge.
MICROWAVE EXTRA CREAMY OATMEAL
It’s oatmeal. It’s creamy. It’s delicious. And you can use that gnarly old mug you have lying around to make it. Maybe just wash it out a little first.
We know what you’re thinking though: how is this recipe different than ordinary instant oatmeal? Well, if you must know, it’s much tastier because you add evaporated milk and sugar to it.
This means you don’t have to keep regular milk in your fridge, worried about if it will go bad! You can buy a case of evaporated milk and keep it under your bed for all the oatmeal you can eat.
Adding milk and sugar to anything would make it better…well, maybe not ketchup. Or sausage. Okay, mostly just breakfast foods.

SAVE SOME FOR LATER
Really? You can’t finish a coffee mug full of oatmeal? Well, if you want to save the rest to eat later or to use to prank your roommate, cover the bowl or mug with plastic wrap or pour the oatmeal into something airtight and put it in the fridge. The oatmeal should last up to about a week, but you should definitely eat it sooner rather than later.
COST FACTOR
$: This is an extremely cheap recipe. All you need is some instant oatmeal, a jar of peanut butter, evaporated milk, and some sugar.
MICROWAVE TABLE
- 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook this recipe like this. Start by microwaving for 1:12, then again for 1:12.
- 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Your cook time will be 1:43, and then again for 1:43.
