Ultimate Microwave Chocolate Banana Cake that’s a super rich cake full of chocolate chips and sliced bananas.

Here’s a cake that you’ll go bananas over (brace yourself for the banana puns.) All you have to do is plant yourself in front of the microwave, so much can stem from making a delicious cake. Cake is just so a-peel-ing that you’ll have to tell your friends to split so you can have it all to yourself (okay, I’m done I promise.)

Microwave Banana Chocolate CakeULTIMATE MICROWAVE CHOCOLATE BANANA CAKE

Bananas and chocolate go together better than anyone probably realizes. The bananas make the cake even sweeter and are naturally spongy, moist and delicious. Bananas are also incredibly easy to find and they’re not expensive, so you can have some for breakfast and dessert.

How to make Microwave Chocolate Banana Cake

  • Use a 6” cereal bowl.
  • Mix butter, water, egg and banana together.
  • Add in the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt and baking powder.
  • Top with chocolate chips.
  • Microwave for 1:30 seconds

TOPPINGS
Peanut butter: Get out your peanut butter and add some to the batter or smear some over the top. It’s probably the single most low maintenance frosting ever, and everyone knows that peanut better and bananas are awesome together.
Chocolate chips: Yeah, I know there’s already chocolate chips in the recipe but bear with me. You can use whatever flavor of chips you’d like, from white to dark chocolate or peanut butter chips.

LEFTOVERS
Okay, so I know that you’ve got at least a few half-eaten things lying around. Do yourself (and your roommates) a favor and put this one into the fridge for later. The cake will last you up to a week and will stay delicious the whole time. As for everything else, you may want to invest in a hazmat suit after a week of storing.

Banana Double Chocolate Chip Cake in a MicrowaveREHEATING
You can reheat the cake in the microwave really easily. Just pop it in and reheat it in 10 second waves so that doesn’t dry out or bake onto the bowl. You can also eat it chilled, which may be even tastier than having it hot. You should try it both ways and let us know which one is tastier.

COST
$$$: This one is a little spendy the first time you make it, but it gets cheaper. Why? Because you can use what you buy for this cake for so many other recipes. You can also use the baking soda to get weird smells out of your fridge and sink (hint hint.)

MICROWAVE TABLE
1,000 watts or higher: higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook this recipe for about 1:50.
900 watts: change the cook time to 1:50, but make sure you keep an eye on it.
700 watts: microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook the cake for about 2:40.
