Microwave Vanilla Cake is the easiest no egg vanilla cake that’s moist and tender and perfect for sprinkles. A quick birthday surprise for your roommate!

Vanilla Cake is perfect for all sorts of occasions because you can add any color of icing you want to it to make it fit the mood. Like red, green or blue for the holidays, orange and black for Halloween, or taupe and magenta stripes for your roommate’s birthday because, let’s face it, your roommate likes weird colors.

Microwave Vanilla CakeMICROWAVE VANILLA CAKE

Vanilla was once one of the rarest spices on the planet. Vanilla comes from the dried fruit of an exquisitely beautiful orchid that naturally grows in very remote and specific regions. People searched for this spice with the same kind of feverish obsession that the miners in the Yukon had, and once it was cultivated, it spread across the world like wild fire… and your roommate just called you “vanilla” as an insult. Shows what they know! You’re priceless, just like vanilla.

Celebrate your uniqueness by making a Vanilla Cake in the microwave. Seriously, it’s really easy and you only have to microwave it for 1 minute, which give you plenty of time to tell your roommate just how wrong they are about you.

How to make Microwave Vanilla Cake

  • In a cereal bowl with a fork stir together the flour, sugar and baking powder.
  • Add in the milk, vegetable oil and vanilla and stir.
  • Microwave for 1 minute.

SAVE SOME FOR LATER

Cover the bowl with some plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge. The Vanilla Cake should last for about 4 days, as long as you keep it sealed and don’t leave it open for mold to grow on.

COST FACTOR

$$: You need flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla extract (obviously), vegetable oil, and milk. This can add up a little, but if you store everything in a dry place that isn’t under the bed, then it all should be good for multiple recipes.

MICROWAVE TABLE

  • 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook the cake for about 1:12.
  • 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Start by microwaving for about 1:43.
