Microwave S'mores Chocolate CakeULTIMATE MICROWAVE CHOCOLATE S’MORES CAKE

Camping is so much fun. There’s mosquitos, rocks to sleep on, angry bears and the crushing realization of how vast the universe is when you look up at the millions of stars. Okay, so camping is really only fun because of the s’mores. Or, just a thought, you could make super easy s’more cake in the comfort of your own microwave.

So, where do s’mores come from? No one knows for sure, but it probably went something like this: In the 1920’s someone turned to another person around a campfire and said, “hey, whatever you just made out of chocolate, graham crackers and a burnt marshmallow was delicious, could I please have some more?” The second person probably said no and bogarted the rest of the marshmallows, but a proud camping tradition was born.

How To Make Ultimate Microwave Chocolate S’mores Cake

  • Use a 6” cereal bowl.
  • Mix butter, water, and egg together.
  • Add in the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • Top with chocolate chips and marshmallows.
  • Mix the crumbled graham crackers with the second melted tablespoon of butter.
  • Form mini clumps of graham crackers and gently drop onto the batter.
  • Microwave for 1:30 seconds then top with marshmallows.

TOPPINGS

  • Chocolate sauce: Just because there’s chocolate in it doesn’t mean that there can’t be more chocolate on it. Drizzle some of your favorite chocolate sauce across the top and dig in.
  • Aw nuts: Add some crushed or chopped nuts onto the top of your s’mores cake. One of the best ways to crush up nuts is to put them into a plastic bag, picture something that really irritates you and then take out your aggression by hitting the plastic bag against the floor or with a shoe. You’ll feel better after and you’ll have some tasty, pulverized crunchy treats for the top of your cake.

LEFTOVERS
Unlike camping, you can keep the leftovers in your room without having to worry about a hungry critter sniffing around at 2 AM (or maybe you do. I don’t know your life.) Take whatever’s left over of your cake and wrap it in plastic wrap or a sealable bag and put it in the fridge. It will be good for about a week.

COST
$$$: The ingredients are a little expensive up front, but you can keep using them to make as many cakes as you want.

MICROWAVE TABLE

  • 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook this recipe for about 1:50.
  • 900 watts: Change the cook time to 1:50, but make sure you keep an eye on it.
  • 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook the cake for about 2:40.
