MICROWAVE TOASTED NUTS
So you’re waiting for your friends to come over for the party you planned last minute, and you realize that you don’t actually have snacks. Having no snacks is social suicide, so you need to pull yourself together and make something wonderful. The solution? Toasted Nuts!
All you need is a package of nuts and a microwave, and you have an instant party snack that everyone can share. Plus, you can customize them to fit the flavor palate of the friends you have coming over. Like Jimmy, the guy who claims he only eats ridiculously hot food. Add some ghost pepper flakes and see if he really can handle it.
HOW TO MAKE MICROWAVE TOASTED NUTS
- Add the nuts in a single layer to your plate
- Microwave in 1-minute increments, for 4-5 minutes.
- The nuts are done as they JUST begin to darken in color and start to sizzle.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH TOASTED NUTS

VARIATIONS ON TOASTED NUTS
- Add-ins: Never underestimate the power of a Cajun spice blend. Hit the nuts with a layer fo spice before you roast them, and you have yourself a fun, delicious treat. You can do this with all sorts of spice blends, from Italian spices to hot sauce.
PLATE IT UP
Grab yourself a cool looking box or a tin, line the inside with a sheet of wax or parchment paper and pour the Toasted Nuts inside. Depending on the occasion (is this a high-end New Year’s Eve party or game day with the guys?) you can dress up the box to look as pretty or casual as you need. Seriously, just throw a bow on it and it looks like you picked up an expensive treat from a high-end shop.
SAVE SOME FOR LATER
You can leave roasted nuts at room temperature for up to 2 days, as long as you keep them in something airtight. If you just leave them out in the open air, they can get weirdly stale and no one wants that.
COST FACTOR
$: All you need is a package of nuts. That’s it, and that’s all. You can get them for a dollar or less at the right store, so this is definitely a cost-effective recipe. Seriously, it costs less than a bag of chips and is much better for you.
MICROWAVE TABLE
- 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to heat the nuts for 6 to 7 minutes.
- 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook for 8:30 to 10 minutes.
