MICROWAVE RAMEN MAC AND CHEESE

Ramen is an essential dorm room accessory, mostly because you can buy an insane amount of ramen packets for almost nothing. You can fry it, microwave it, boil it, throw it, or even use it as stress relief by smashing it on the floor. You can also use Ramen as a base for one of your other favorite snacks, just add some basic ingredients and suddenly you’ve got yourself a heaping bowl of Mac and Cheese, which is essentially the best, most practical magic trick ever.

  • Garlic powder
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Sea salt

WHAT TO SERVE WITH MICROWAVE RAMEN MAC AND CHEESE

Ramen Mac and Cheese is awesome on its own, but that doesn’t mean that Ramen doesn’t get lonely some times. Reheat some of those breadsticks that you got with your last take-out, add a little bit of butter and garlic salt and toast it in the microwave until the butter melts. Take your homemade garlic bread and dunk to your heart’s content.

SAVE SOME FOR LATER
Ramen Mac and Cheese will stay good for up to a week in the fridge. Just make sure that you keep it in an airtight container so no moisture gets in. When you want to reheat it, put the Ramen Mac and Cheese in the microwave for 1 minute, stir, check the heat, and add another minute or two as needed.

COST FACTOR
$: For this recipe, you need ramen, water, cheese, cornstarch, and milk, which means that it is one of the most cost-effective recipes you’ll ever make. Ramen keeps extremely well for really long periods before it’s cooked, so feel free to buy a bulk box, you will absolutely use it.

MICROWAVE TABLE

  • 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook the Ramen Mac and Cheese for 3:35 minutes, then 2:25 minutes, and finally for 1:15.
  • 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook the Ramen Mac and Cheese for about 5:10 minutes, drain the excess moisture, add the last ingredients, cook for 3:25 minutes, and finally, once you add the cheese, 1:45 more minute.

Great recipe! I just used a 900 watt microwave and when I microwaved the cornstarch and milk, it sorta went kaboom, I suggest doing a little over a minute around 1:15. Then add the cheese, stir, microwave about 20 sec then do that a few times till it’s consistant. Everything else is perfect except a little less the a minute when you add the ramen, but that’s all I have to say. Thanks for the great recipe!
