Microwave Creamy Tomato Soup beats the canned stuff any day! Made from marinara sauce, broth, cheese and cream.

Tomato soup is the best friend of the grilled cheese sandwich, makes edible fake blood (if you don’t look too close) and, contrary to popular belief, does not get rid of skunk smell. So if those aren’t good enough reasons, you may need to reassess your standards.

MICROWAVE CREAMY TOMATO SOUP

Let’s face it, grilled cheese that isn’t dunked into tomato soup is sad grilled cheese. Prevent sad grilled cheese by making your own delicious, creamy tomato soup in your very own microwave with almost no effort. Its much tastier than canned soup and you can impress your friends with your gourmet microwave skills.

Plus this soup is so easy to make you have no excuse to buy the sad canned stuff. This tastes like it came from Panera. Get fancy and top with croutons too. Maybe even more Parmesan cheese. Maybe a whole bag of Fritos. We don’t judge.

HOW TO MAKE MICROWAVE CREAMY TOMATO SOUP

  • Mix and microwave for 2-3 minutes covered with wet paper towel.
  • Garnish with croutons when eating (or eat with grilled cheese).

SAVE SOME MICROWAVE CREAMY TOMATO SOUP FOR LATER
Tomato soup is delicious, but sometimes you whip yourself up a bowl and then get distracted or have to leave for an impromptu fire drill or your roommate gets themselves locked out. We get it, life happens. If this happens to you, pop your bowl of soup into a sealable bag or wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge.

Fully sealed, tomato soup is good in the fridge for about 4 days before it starts to gain sentience and you can charge it rent. At that point, it’s better just to make a new batch from scratch, since it’s easier than explaining to your roommate what is happening in the bowl you ‘borrowed’ from them.

COST FACTOR
$: You need marinara, parmesan cheese, chicken broth, heavy cream or whole milk, salt and pepper. You can find all of this at your local grocery store for pretty cheap or you can save some of the free condiments that you get with pizza and use them instead.

MICROWAVE TABLE

  • 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook this recipe for 2:24 to 3:36, depending on how boiling hot you like your soup.
  • 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking, you need to keep an eye on it. Cook your soup for about 3:26 to 5:09, and test it with a finger tip before you spoon a heaping scoop into your mouth.

I love quickie recipes like this! This soup looks and sounds great. I often wind up with leftover marinara so this is a perfect way to use it.
