Microwave Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese made with beef meatballs and homemade mac and cheese with real cheese sauce in just minutes.
Cheeseburgers are absolutely delicious but they get expensive if you buy them all the time. However, if you make your own and combine it with one of your other favorite dishes, you’ll never want a pre-made burger again (you probably still will, but you know what I’m going for)
MICROWAVE CHEESEBURGER MAC AND CHEESE
Cheeseburgers are amazing, but what could make them even better? Making them into Mac and Cheese. No, really, bear with me, I promise it’s amazing. You don’t need to do a whole lot to make Mac and Cheese and cheeseburgers into the next winning mash up made in heaven (well, made in your microwave). Just mix together ingredients that you either already have or that you can easily buy in bulk the next time that you make your roommate go on a Costco run.
How to Make Microwave Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese
- Mix pasta, water, and salt in a deep cereal bowl.
- Microwave for 2 minutes.
- Mix well and microwave for 2 more minutes (check if it boils – if it boils over stop microwave immediately to stir)
- Check to make sure there is enough water (add 1/4 cup water if it is dry)
- Mix again and microwave another 2 minutes.
- Check for doneness here, microwave one more time if needed.
- Add in the milk, meatballs, and cheddar cheese, stirring well.
- Microwave for 1 minute, until meatballs are warmed through.
- If the cheese doesn’t melt all the way you, can microwave for 45 seconds then stir again.
- Top with American cheese and any toppings you want.
LEFTOVERS
Just in case you didn’t finish all of your Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese, you can save the leftovers for later. Put them in an airtight container and they’ll be good in the fridge for up to 3 days. After that, you should throw them out or risk growing a tiny mold universe.
COST
$$: Mac and cheese in a box is really cheap (it ranges anywhere from $0.99 a box to $6 for a bulk package). Because this recipe calls for more ingredients than your average Mac and cheese dinner, the cost will be slightly higher but still very manageable and MUCH better tasting.
MICROWAVE TABLE
- 900 watts: Change the cook time to 2:40 minutes, stir and then cook for another 2:40, but make sure you keep an eye on it.
- 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook your noodles for about 3:26, stir and then another 3:26.
If you are a fan of ketchup like I am, you can even try the mac and cheese topped with some ketchup.
Hey. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. It’s delicious.

This is such a hearty mac and cheese! Comfort food at its best
Agreed! And it doesn’t leave us starving an hour later like fast food.
This is such a cheesy delicious dinner! My son is making it all of the time now! He loves it, but it’s not just for kids! We like it too!
Now if only it came with a toy, it would be the happiest cheeseburger meal of all. 🙂
What an easy and comforting dish. Love me some mac and cheese.
It’s not a full substitute for mom hugs when you’re homesick, but it definitely helps.
Oh yum! Sounds delicious with the ketchup drizzled over the top. I bet my kids would love this too.
The ketchup is a divisive battle but we’ve planted our flag – we’re Team Ketchup-On-Mac
Oh my gosh, this is awesome! Quick and easy even the grandkids can make this for themselves.
Right?? Kids of all ages can do this solo haha
