MICROWAVE FRUITY PEBBLES KRISPIES TREATS

Fruity Pebbles were a big part of a lot of our childhoods, mostly because we always wanted our parents to buy them, and our parents said no because they’re almost 100% sugar. Well, guess what? You’re an adult now, and that means that you can buy and eat any cereal you want as often as you want! And in between snacking on heaping bowlfuls of Fruity Pebbles, you should try combining them with another childhood favorite, Rice Krispies Treats.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH FRUITY PEBBLES KRISPIES TREATS

If you want to pretend this is a well-rounded breakfast you can serve it with a glass of cold milk and call it deconstructed cold cereal.

HOW TO MAKE MICROWAVE FRUITY PEBBLES KRISPIES TREATS

  • Add butter to a cereal bowl and microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds or until melted.
  • Add marshmallows and microwave for 10 seconds until melted then stir well with the butter.
  • Mix with Fruity Pebbles quickly then gently press back into your cereal bowl.

VARIATIONS

  • Add-ins: If you’ve ever had chocolate chips in your Rice Krispies, you know just how delicious they are. Now, imagine that same tastes with blasts of fruit flavors as well. It’s a definite must-try that you’ll love.

PLATE IT UP

The Fruity Pebbles add a festive array of colors to your treats, so you need an equally colorful plate to arrange them on to show them off. Find your gaudiest, brightest plate (or the cleanest) and stack the treats up on top to make a delicious pyramid.

SAVE SOME FOR LATER

Rice Krispies Treats stay good at room temperature for up to 3 days before you have to throw them out, and Fruity Pebbles Krispies Treats are no exception. You should also keep your Krispies wrapped in plastic wrap or sealed in an airtight container to keep them fresh longer.

COST FACTOR

$: You just need cereal, marshmallows, and butter and you’re good to go. Honestly, the most expensive element of the recipe is the cereal, and you can most likely find a knock-off for even less money than the name brand.

MICROWAVE TABLE

  • 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to cook it in 31-second intervals.
  • 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook in 51-second intervals.
