VARIATIONS ON RICE KRISPIES TREATS
- Toppings and add-ins: You can do so many things with this recipe without having to put in a ton of extra effort. Mix in a ton of chocolate chips and sliced up nuts, or even pieces of caramel or peanut butter cups. Something awesome and beautiful to do with your Rice Krispies is to drizzle melted chocolate or caramel over the top in pretty patterns.
PLATE IT UP
You can cut your Krispies out of the pan and stack them on a paper plate in a little pyramid and voila! Instant perfection. You can also put them in a cute box with a bow and they become an instant gift. This works out perfectly if you forgot someone’s birthday and you don’t want them to know.
SAVE SOME FOR LATER
Rice Krispies are indestructible, but even they have their limits. Keep them in a sealable bag at room temperature and they’ll stay good for about 2 days before turning into rocks. You can also keep them in the fridge for a little longer as long as you keep excess moisture out. Make sure you keep them sealed in a container though.
COST FACTOR
$: Why is Rice Krispies perfect? Well, because they’re delicious. They’re also perfect because they cost pretty much nothing to make. You just need butter, a box of cereal and some marshmallows, and you can use whatever is leftover for meals and snacks later on.
MICROWAVE TABLE
- 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to heat the Rice Krispies for 36 seconds, then again for 36 seconds.
- 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook the Krispies for 51 seconds, then 51 more seconds.
