Microwave Cheeseburgers are delicious, juicy, packed with flavor, and incredibly easy to make. A full burger ready in 5 minutes!
On those nights when you could REALLY go for a burger, but you really don’t want to have to get up and go somewhere, you can make your own absolutely delicious Microwave Cheeseburger in the comfort of your dorm room.
Let’s face an uncomfortable truth that everyone knows but no one wants to admit: pants are awful, and having to put them on to go out in public is just too much some days. We totally get you, which is why we came up with a delicious recipe that you can make in your dorm room without having to gather up the willpower to get dressed. The Microwave Cheeseburger is an absolute work of art, in that it’s simple to make, it tastes as good as (if not better) than a burger you’d get at a restaurant, and you can customize it with any toppings you want.
HOW TO MAKE MICROWAVE CHEESEBURGER
- Mix ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a cereal bowl, then form into a patty shape.
- Using the back of a fork or a toothpick, make a hole in the center the size of a dime (this will prevent the meat from rising into a ball shape.
- Microwave on full power for 2 minutes.
- Flip and microwave for 1 minute.
- While meat is cooking top bun with mayonnaise, then layer with a beef patty, slice of cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
VARIATIONS ON MICROWAVE CHEESEBURGER

- Fresh cilantro
- Garlic
- Raw onion

- Soy sauce
- A fried egg

- Chopped hot peppers
WHAT TO SERVE WITH A MICROWAVE CHEESEBURGER
You can go the traditional French fry route, or you can serve your Cheeseburger with something a little more original. Try our recipes for Crispy Microwave Tater Tots, or Microwave BBQ Potato Chips, as well as Microwave Steamed Asparagus if you’re going a slightly healthier route.
SAVE SOME FOR LATER
If you want to keep your entire burger, bun and all, you can put it in a sealable container in the fridge. However, you should definitely eat it in the next 24 hours to prevent the bun from completely dissolving into mush. The optimal way to store your Cheeseburger is to take the bun off and put all of the innards into a sealable container and keep it in the fridge. It will stay good for up to 3 days, and when you’re ready to eat it you can simply reheat it and add a fresh bun.
COST FACTOR
$: Depending on where you shop, you can get all of the ingredients that you need for fairly inexpensive. Another plus is that as long as you store everything correctly, you can use whatever ingredients you are left with when you’re done to make more meals in the future, which is a definite win.
MICROWAVE TABLE
- 1,000 watts or higher: Higher wattage, lower cook time. Our microwave is about 1,250 watts, but if you have one with about 1,000 watts you will want to microwave the burger patty for 2:25 minutes, then again for 1:15 minutes.
- 700 watts: Microwaves under about 900 don’t heat things evenly or consistently, so don’t go anywhere while you’re cooking. Cook the burger patty for 3:25 minutes, then for 1:45 minutes.
